A 23% increase in the value of the Canadian dollar and pressure from global competition creates an economic environment where Canadian firms must find ways to cut costs in order to stay competitive, particularly when selling services to the United States. Canadian companies could have no choice but to increase their use of offshore outsourcing, and increase the number of services outsourced, in order to offer acceptable value to U.S. clients.
